Costume Update

I know some people like to do a big unveil of their costume and won’t let you see it ahead of time. I could tell you that that is exactly what I’m doing but that is mostly because I don’t actually have a costume to show you just yet. I was planning on hot gluing some things, but I don’t know if you’ve ever tried to hot glue tulle. Turns out, it’s actually pretty painful ’cause the hot glue goes straight through the tulle. Ouchies.

And it turns out I really hate no sew tutus. There, I said it. They’re just messy and I have ones I sew that I love so very much more but at this point I don’t have the time, money or resources to go back and redo my Cheshire Cat one. So oh well, time to make do.

After some youtube video watching and extensive google searching, though, I think I have a plan of action for going forward and getting my costume to light up and hopefully not break in my suitcase on the way down there.

Wish me luck.

  1. Next time, just go to an online dance discounter and buy a cheap practice tutu. They come in just the horrific, garish colors so many costumes require and are often on clearance for magnificently cheap prices. All About Dance is good, and so is Discount Dance Supply. Just accept beforehand that you’re going to have to slog through multiple pictures of young girls wearing highly inappropriate outfits. Oh, competitive dance…

  2. Can’t wait to see your costume! Now that I’ve done one race in a costume I’m sort of hooked on the idea, I wasn’t planning on one for Wine & Dine, but now I’m thinking about it…
